Sandra Adams

Sandra graduated from the University of California, Irvine where she received her B.A. in English Literature. She received her Master of Science in Leadership and Management from the University of La Verne. She has worked in international education since 1991 where she developed numerous programs for international organizations, schools, and universities for UC Irvine, UC Riverside and ELS. She enjoys hiking, ceramics, her two cats Milo and Flame, and learning about more about the world around us and different cultures from her students and her travels.

Michelle Wong

Student Services and Marketing Coordinator

Michelle is currently a sophomore at the University of California, Riverside. She will receive her BS degree in Business Administration and Marketing in June 2020. In the future, she wants to pursue a career in marketing or public relations.  Her role at AEI is to support students and perform all the duties required for students to enroll at this school, as well as promote the brand of AEI to the community. Michelle loves utilizing her creative side to create new campaigns and ideas. In her free time, she likes going to the beach, Disneyland and trying out new food places!

Brett Blumenthal

Instructor

Brett received his Bachelor of Art’s degree in Creative Writing from California State University, Northridge. He received his Master of Art’s degree in Applied Linguistics and TESL from California State University, San Bernardino. He began teaching in 2009 and has been teaching for the past 11 years. Brett brings a keen sense of humor to all his classes, and is exceptional at teaching students in a clear, methodical manner. His knowledge of ESL methodologies helps to create classes that are meaningful and fun. His passions are fitness, baseball (he played for San Bernardino Valley College and Cal State Dominguez Hills), and wearing crazy cat shirts on occasion.

Leen Kawas

Instructor

Leen received her Bachelor's of Arts in Simultaneous Translation from the University of Damascus in Syria. She taught middle school and high school English in Syria before embarking on a journey to the United States. She received her Master’s degree in Comparative Literature in Arabic and French Literature and an interdisciplinary track in philosophy from the University of California, Riverside where she is pursuing her Ph.D. Leen is a passionate instructor that always inspires her students to strive for more. Her teaching methods engage students in the learning process and her superior grasp of English grammar make it easy for students to learn grammar easily. Her passions are music, dancing, playing piano, and watching Star Trek Enterprise with Captain Picard.

Debbie Peterson

Instructor

Debbie is a native of Riverside, California and graduated from North High School.  She served in the U.S. Air Force for five years before enrolling in and graduating from UC Riverside with a B.A. in Linguistics.  In addition, she holds a TEFL Certificate from UC Riverside where she taught in their Intensive English Program for over 25 years. In addition, she taught ESL in Switzerland for three years. Debbie teaches from the heart. She delivers lessons so that each student can reach their full potential, and she helps students understand how to communicate in English effectively.

 

Carol Williams Kisch

Instructor

Carol received her B.A. in French Literature from Swarthmore College and her M.A. in Education from Claremont Graduate School. She has taught English in Burkina Faso, West Africa; Paris, France; Edinburgh, Scotland, and recently retired after 38 years at the University of California, Riverside. She especially loves to teach academic writing. In her free time, she often travels to Hungary or to her family's cabin in the forest or stays home to read, garden, and visit with her family and friends.

Nicole Hoelle

Instructor

Nicole received her B.A. in English from the University of Redlands and her M.A. in English from San Francisco State university. Also she attended an MFA program at UC Riverside. She has taught for more than 15 years at both of public and private schools. She also is a lecturer at several community colleges and universities. She is an accomplished writer and has had several short stories published in journals and literary magazines. She enjoys reading, Amazon T.V., hanging out with her dog Rosie and interacting with students from all over the world.

Amy Yasul

Instructor

Amy received her B.A. in communications from UC San Diego and her M.A. in Education from Aliant Masters University. She is currently working towards obtaining a second B.A. in communication disorders from Loma Linda University. She has been drawn to teaching from the moment she was a literacy tutor in high school. Fun fact: Amy taught English in Japan for 3 years! In her free time, she enjoys taking care of her 3 kids, hiking, creating content for her YouTube channel and playing video games.
